Scarborough Community Services and the Scarborough Football Club jointly hosted Schuman’s National Underclassman Combine (NUC), May 15th and 16th.   The event was held in the Scarborough Sports Complex and was attended by student athletes from the state of Maine and neighboring states.   This was an exciting day for Scarborough and will have a positive impact for years to come.

46 student athletes came, did their best and began the process of getting recruitment exposure.  Of those 46, 11 were from Scarborough, in grades 8-11.  For many of the 46, it was their first time competing in a Combine.   They now know where they stand as compared to others nation wide.    Results of the Combine are posted and can be looked at on the NUC website:   http://nationalunderclassmen.com/results2010.html.

Michael Cyr, Logan Mars, and Ryan Jamison were all MVPs of the day, being listed in NUC’s American Top Prospects.  Logan and Michael received the Leadership award in their respective sessions and are mentioned in ESPN’s writeup of the day.  (Didn’t I mention ESPN was here at the event??)   Read the complete article on ESPN’s website: http://sports.espn.go.com/ncaa/recruiting/football/news/story?id=5195800

It was a fabulous day for all involved.   The enthusiasm was quite high and we’re all (SFC and NUC) looking forward to making this an annual event!
